When Kelsey and Gordon asked me to shoot their engagement session at one of their favorite spots in town, I was so excited. My anticipation made the slower months of winter seem that much longer! Kelsey and Gordon are such a sweet and fun couple to hang out with, and we had the pleasure to have the first half of our session at Blackwall Hitch - Alexandria (thank you so much for your hospitality!).
We arrived at venue early in the morning and used the beautiful space inside the restaurant before they opened for lunch. The restaurant had large windows and plenty of nautical decor to add to its charm. Blackwall Hitch was so picturesque! We then braved the cold for a couple of quick shots at the docks right outside of the restaurant - luckily the sun was beaming and gave a little extra warmth to the couple as they embraced each other. After our quick shoot on the docks, we headed over to the Marsh Dyke Trail just south of Old Town - the spot where Gordon proposed to Kelsey! This trail was just isolated enough to block out all the noise from the foot traffic and provided a quiet and peaceful moment as they reflected over their favorite moments throughout their relationship.
Although we had the warmest overall February on record this year, our shoot ended up being on the coldest day in the past two weeks. Despite this, this didn't stop the lovely couple from having good fun throughout the session!
Thank you so much for such a fun and romantic engagement session, Kelsey and Gordon! I can't wait to capture your wedding in May!
