Rita & Phil || DC Union Station Engagement
As we are all navigating this uncertain time, I want to put out more posts and share more beautiful images, to hopefully remind ourselves that this too shall pass and the most important things in our lives are the people who we love and care deeply. We are all in this together and will get through it together.
This week, I want to share this beautiful engagement session at DC Union Station with Rita and Phil. I’ve known Rita since high school, and she’s like an older sister, so when she asked if I can photograph her engagement session, I was over the moon excited! We went to the Union Station right before the holidays, and there was festive decor around every corner. Along with the backdrop of the marble of the building itself, this session is definitely one of my favorite engagement sessions!
Here’s how their story unfold from Phil’s perspective:
Rita and I were friends from middle school, and became best friends in high school. I secretly had a crush on her and we even went to homecoming together junior year. Unfortunately, Rita only saw me as a friend, so our relationship stayed platonic. We both ended up going to the University of Maryland, College Park but drifted apart that first year because we had different friend groups. 10 years later while Rita was living in Winston Salem, NC, she came back to visit and we ran into each other while hanging out with mutual friends. We started talking and found that our old familiarity was still there. After a month of texting and talking everyday, Rita was finally convinced to go on our first date. After that we visited back and forth from Maryland and North Carolina and fell in love between hiking, eating, antiquing, and going to church together. We got engaged on 3.10.19 while hiking down the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It was an amazing trip where we did all the things we love. Now I’m the luckiest man in the world because I can call my best friend my fiancé and soon to be my wife.
